What We Offer

Kinesiology

Your body is constantly communicating with you. Kinesiology, through muscle testing and various techniques, identifies and addresses imbalances and messages in your body. Kinesiology addresses the root causes of imbalances and restores harmony within the body-mind system. By identifying and addressing the underlying factors contributing to health challenges, supports you to achieve optimal well-being. Kinesiology uses the triangle of health. Which is made up of 3 sides, mental/emotional, physical/structural, and biochemical Kinesiology delves into all facets of life to restore balance where is is needed.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) weaves science and life together in a blend that focuses on exactly who you are and what you need. At Alignment Healing, OT focuses on using what you love as a way to heal. OT is a multifaceted discipline that encompasses a wide range of interventions and techniques. Which includes physical exercises, sensory integration techniques, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology to support you in achieving your goals. OT can also provide education and guidance to clients, families, and caregivers to foster independence and sustainable progress beyond therapy sessions.

Exercise Physiology

The ‘movement is medicine’ approach. Exercise Physiology utilises exercise intervention to prevent and manage disease and injury - thus enabling you to restore optimal physical function. This is Exercise Physiology with an integrative approach. Looking at the interplay between the many pillars of health (sleep, nutrition, movement) that ultimately influence your ability to move and exercise. Exercise Physiology will provide you with the tools to ultimately get you moving better, and enable you to get the most out of life.

Myofascial Release Therapy

Myofascial release is a hands-on approach to treating dysfunction throughout the body. Your body is a vast, interconnected system through which fascia (connective tissue) supports our function and movement. Over time, the way we hold ourselves, move, and the injuries we sustain, can cause myofascial restriction and accompanying pain. Myofascial release, used in conjunction with corrective exercise, will enable you to return to a more balanced, pain-free state.

  • Exercise physiology can be highly beneficial in managing and improving various conditions. Here are some ways in which exercise physiology can help:

    • Assessment and Evaluation: An exercise physiologist can assess your current functional capacity, and any limitations or impairments you may have. This evaluation helps in designing a personalised exercise program tailored to your specific needs and condition.

    • Chronic Disease Management & Prevention: Exercise physiology plays a crucial role in managing chronic conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, and respiratory disorders. Exercise physiologists can develop exercise plans that address specific symptoms and risk factors associated with these conditions, helping to control symptoms, improve overall health, and reduce the risk of complications.

    • Rehabilitation: Exercise physiology is often employed in the rehabilitation process after injuries, surgeries, or medical treatments. Exercise physiologists can design rehabilitation programs to restore strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance, helping you recover faster and regain functional abilities.

    • Performance Enhancement: Exercise physiologists work with athletes and individuals aiming to improve their physical performance. By understanding the body's physiological responses to exercise, they can design training programs to optimize performance, increase endurance, build strength, enhance speed and agility, and prevent injuries.

    • Mental Health: Regular exercise has been shown to have positive effects on mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and stress. Exercise physiology can incorporate various forms of exercise, including aerobic exercises, strength training, and mind-body activities, which can improve mood, boost self-esteem, and reduce the risk of mental health issues.

    • Lifestyle Modification: Exercise physiologists can assist in developing a healthy lifestyle plan that incorporates regular physical activity, proper nutrition, stress management, and other healthy habits. These lifestyle modifications can positively impact various conditions, such as hypertension, metabolic syndrome, and musculoskeletal disorders.

It is crucial to consult with a certified exercise physiologist who can assess your specific condition and design an appropriate exercise program tailored to your needs and goals. They will consider your medical history, current health status, and any potential contraindications to exercise to ensure your safety and maximise the benefits.

  • The body talks and your Kinesiologist knows how to listen. There are many different styles of Kinesiology. At Alignment Healing we use PKP (Professional Kinesiology Practice) as a holistic approach to health and well-being. PKP incorporates principles from various disciplines, including kinesiology, neuroscience, psychology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and energy medicine.

Kinesiology utilises muscle testing as a tool to gather information about the body's imbalances and blockages. Muscle testing involves applying light pressure to specific muscles and observing their response. The muscle response provides insights into the body's energy flow, stressors, and areas of disharmony.

As a Kinesiologist, we work on the premise that imbalances in the body's energy systems can affect physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The goal of Kinesiology is to address the root causes of imbalances and restore harmony within the body-mind system. By identifying and addressing the underlying factors contributing to health challenges, Kinesiology aims to support clients in achieving optimal well-being.

Overall, we focus on the interconnectedness of the body's systems and this holistic approach makes it a unique and valuable modality for those seeking a comprehensive approach to health and wellness.

  • Myofascial release is a therapeutic technique that focuses on releasing tension and tightness in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs. It involves applying gentle, sustained pressure to specific areas of the body to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and promote overall well-being. Here's how myofascial release can help with various conditions:

    • Pain Relief and resolution: Myofascial release can be effective in reducing pain associated with musculoskeletal conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic back pain, neck pain, and headaches. By releasing tension in the fascia, it can alleviate muscle knots, trigger points, and restrictions, leading to pain reduction and improved range of motion.

    • Improved Flexibility and Range of Motion: Tight fascia can restrict movement and limit flexibility. Myofascial release techniques can help stretch and lengthen the fascia, promoting increased flexibility and restoring normal range of motion. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with conditions like frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, or joint stiffness.

    • Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention: Myofascial release can aid in the rehabilitation process by addressing scar tissue and adhesions that may form following surgeries, injuries, or overuse. By breaking down these adhesions and promoting tissue healing, it can improve functional recovery, prevent future injuries, and enhance overall performance.

    • Stress Reduction and Relaxation: Myofascial release techniques can induce a relaxation response in the body, reducing stress levels and promoting a sense of calm. The gentle pressure and stretching movements employed during myofascial release can help release endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving and mood-enhancing chemicals.

    • Posture Correction: Poor posture can result in imbalances and increased tension in the fascia, leading to discomfort and dysfunction. Myofascial release can help address these imbalances, release tight muscles, and restore proper alignment. By improving posture, it can reduce strain on muscles and joints, alleviate pain, and enhance overall body mechanics.

    • Enhance Performance: Athletes can benefit from myofascial release techniques as part of their training and recovery regimen. It can help optimize muscle function, reduce muscle imbalances, and improve muscle flexibility and power, leading to enhanced athletic performance and decreased risk of sports-related injuries.

A certified myofascial release therapist can assess your specific condition and provide personalized guidance and treatment. They will have the expertise to determine the most appropriate techniques and intensity for your needs, ensuring safe and effective outcomes.
